Press Release: Standup for the Cure Launches 2021 Art Show to Support Artists and Help Put an End to Breast Cancer
Art show and fundraiser to support Standup for the Cure official artists and help increase funding for breast cancer detection, treatment, and education.
ENCINITAS, CA (March 18, 2021) – Standup for the Cure (SUFTC), the nationwide stand up paddling event that has raised over 1.5 million dollars to support breast cancer detection, treatment, and education, will be hosting a 2021 Spring Art Show and Fundraiser running from April 1, 2021, through June 30, 2021. Funds raised will support Standup for the Cure’s beneficiaries.
Since 2012, Standup for the Cure has lived out its mission to build a compassionate community, promote an active, healthy lifestyle, and save lives through early breast cancer detection, treatment, and education. Throughout the years, this had typically been done by attracting thousands of participants nationwide to several in-person fundraising events. However, due to the spread of COVID-19, in-person events have been limited.
This year, as a part of their national Standup for the Cure campaign, the organization will be hosting a 3-month long Art Show at Bliss 101, an art and home goods gallery in Encinitas, CA. This event will not only assist in raising money for breast cancer but will also assist the arts in a time of need.
As a long-time tradition, Standup for the Cure has featured one official artist each year. Limited edition prints are awarded exclusively to top donors and major SUFTC partners. The Spring Art Show will bring together these featured artists to showcase and sell their art with one-third of the proceeds benefiting the artists, one-third benefiting the local gallery, and one-third benefiting Standup for the Cure’s mission.
“Art is something that you can always count on to bring the community together. With its expressive nature, art enriches our lives, brings in new perspectives, and even assists in the emotional healing process of those affected by breast cancer,” stated Dan Van Dyck, Executive Director of Standup for the Cure. “Even though we cannot have our large, physical events this spring, we continue to create ways for the community to come together, support local arts and vendors, and promote breast cancer awareness.”
During the show, Bliss 101 will be dedicating certain walls of their showroom to the Standup for the Cure artists between April 1, 2021, to June 30, 2021. The featured artists showcased will include works from Drew Brophy, Wade Koniakowsky, Colleen Wilcox, Avi Kiriaty, Eduardo Bolioli, and Meegan Feori. Throughout the show, exclusive open-house style receptions will also take place. These receptions will offer guests the opportunity to meet some of the artists, watch a live art demonstration, bid on limited Standup for the Cure specific artwork, purchase the artist’s work, and donate to Standup for the Cure. Dates of the reception are still being determined and will be released soon via the Standup for the Cure website.
