Press Release: Standup for the Cure Launches Nationwide Micro Team and Individual Events to Help Put an End to Breast Cancer
Standup for the Cure is taking their event nationwide with options to join a fundraising team and take part in “micro-events” while promoting an active lifestyle in support of breast cancer detection, treatment, and education.
ENCINITAS, CA (April 19, 2021) – Standup for the Cure (SUFTC), the nationwide stand up paddling event that has raised over 1.4 million dollars to support breast cancer detection, treatment, and education, announced today the launch of their nationwide micro events for teams and individuals to support the breast cancer community. SUFTC’s summer events will take place on July 9, 10, and 11, 2021.
Each year, Standup for the Cure attracts thousands of participants nationwide in support of their mission to build community, promote an active, healthy lifestyle, and save lives through early breast cancer detection, treatment, and education. This year, these micro-events (following local COVID-19 guidelines) will allow the community to continue to participate and support this important cause.
Participants nationwide will be able to “Standup for the Cure” while practicing yoga, paddling (canoe, kayak, SUP, paddleboard), dancing, hiking, running, CrossFit, Pilates, or other wellness activities by either creating their own fundraising group, participating in one of SUFTC’s team groups, or by individually joining in on the festivities. Participants will then be asked to share their experiences on social media to then be featured on SUFTC’s website, official social media pages, and as part of the organization’s 2021 online scrapbook.
“We are excited for the opportunity to continue to build on our nationwide success from last year’s event and raise awareness and funds to help put an end to breast cancer,” said Dan Van Dyck, Executive Director of Standup for the Cure. “By launching micro-events consisting of small Covid-safe groups of families and friends, participants can “Standup for the Cure” their own way. We’re looking forward to flooding our neighborhoods, no matter where people are located, as well as social media with positive stories of support, compassion, and resilience to support our mission.”
In this year’s event, participants can enter into challenges with each other, create special tribute pages for loved ones, publish posts/pictures about their journey, join groups, fundraise, and more. All entrants will receive an official Standup for the Cure jersey to wear during their active SUFTC weekend. Registrants who wish to receive their official jersey in time for the event must register by June 1, 2021. Registration, fundraising, donation information, and other links can be found on the Standup for the Cure fundraising platform.
